The Oriental Energy Maoming project has turned a barren wasteland into a modern industrial plant, setting the stage for the creation of a zero-carbon industrial park. The project, which includes the production of propylene and polypropylene, has been operational for a year and is expected to ultimately generate an annual revenue of 4.5 billion yuan ($621.57 million).

This project is part of a broader effort to extend the industrial chain, utilizing propylene to produce carbon fiber, a material in high demand across various industries. Over 400 jobs have already been created by the project, with more than half of the employees recruited from local institutions like Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology. The rapid growth of Maoming's industrial chain is a testament to the region's commitment to sustainable development. The new headquarters of Oriental Energy are under construction in Maoming, which will aim to attract more talent and foster innovation in the zero-carbon sector.

This project is a key component of the city's strategy to build a modern, zero-carbon industrial park. The park will focus on carbon fiber, with plans to develop new materials and basic chemicals as well.
