Huazhou's Xintang village is part of the first batch of typical villages selected for the "Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project" in Guangdong province. In recent years, the village's collective economy has been growing.
Upon entering Xintang village, one is greeted by rows of distinctive traditional houses. Whether it's the courtyards of the villagers' homes or the village roads, everything appears clean, tidy, and lush with greenery.
Since being designated as a typical village, Xintang village has focused on improving its living environment and regulating the architectural styles of rural houses. Villagers have planted over 4,300 fruit trees in courtyards and gardens. It has also created a rural vitalization landscape belt, planting 15,000 trees, including pomegranates and sugar apples, along it.
Leveraging its local resources, the village has developed five fruit bases. This has led to the cultivation of over 3,000 mu of specialty fruits, bringing the village's collective annual income to 960,000 yuan ($134,765).
Xintang village is also working to integrate the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. It has attracted investment from local entrepreneurs and leading enterprises to develop projects such as farmhouse hotels, fruit preservation cold storage facilities, and deep processing plants, forming a pattern of integrated development in agricultural tourism, with activities including fruit picking, farm dining, outdoor sports, and leisurely vacations.
During the 2024 Fruit Culture Tourism Festival held by Xinan town, Xintang village welcomed over 30,000 visitors, with approximately 220,000 kilograms of fruit sold on-site, generating nearly one million yuan in sales.
