On July 20, the first Guangdong Agricultural Games of 2024 kicked off in Maoming.

The games will span the entire year and cover the entire province, featuring over 10 activities categorized into skills, technology, and entertainment.

As the first agricultural event in Guangdong, the agricultural games have engaged participants from across the province.

The "longan picking" contest, a traditional agricultural activity in Maoming, was a highlight of the games. Contestants were tasked with peeling and deseeding 10 kilograms of fresh longans, selecting the intact flesh, and neatly arranging them.

Known as the birthplace of the world-famous Chuliang longan, Chuliang village is not only developing traditional agricultural industries but has also created an integrated demonstration zone that combines modern agriculture, agritourism, and rural education around longan cultivation.

The preliminary round of the Guangdong Rural Livestreaming Contest was held in Gaozhou, where 16 rural livestreamers from across the province showcased their talents, each promoting Gaozhou longan in their own unique way.

The games also aim to discover agricultural influencers, rural professionals, and talented farmers, as well as nurture exemplary farms and farmer cooperatives. Related government departments will provide policy support and create a conducive environment for outstanding talents and agricultural entities that excel during the games.
