Over 1,600 global media outlets focus on Maoming

On May 21, 2024, the Global Communications Alliance issued an article entitled "An International Media Tour in Maoming, China: The Land of Lychees, the Coastal Oil City," which was disseminated in 12 countries across Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region. The article was published in five languages, including English, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.

The content garnered broad republishing by local mainstream media, portals, and key information websites such as Kyodo News, Yonhap News Agency, Asahi Shimbun in Japan, NAVER in Korea, The Globe and Mail in Canada, Fox News, Yahoo Finance, and the financial portal Boursica, resulting in a total of 1,655 publications.

Yonhap News Agency highlighted Maoming as the birthplace of lychees in China, with a cultivation history spanning over 2,000 years. The locals' deep affection for and cultivation of lychees is well-known. The ancient lychee plantation in Boqiao village is often referred to as a "living museum" of lychees. Despite enduring for centuries, the ancient lychee trees there continue to thrive and yield plentiful fruits.

Fox News spotlighted Maoming's Gaozhou woodcut art, where knives are used in lieu of pens during the carving process. The art of carving emphasizes precise knife techniques, akin to the brushstrokes in calligraphy and painting. Each mark on the wood is deliberate and intricate, rendering it an important intangible cultural heritage of Chinese culture.

Kyodo News mentioned that Maoming, as a coastal city, ingeniously harnesses its unique coastal ecological resources to establish a new model of rural vitalization. Furthermore, The Globe and Mail emphasized Maoming's prominence as a city that was conceived flourished, and gained renown due to its oil industry.

Yahoo Finance noted that the Dianbai district in Maoming is recognized as the "Hometown of Agarwood in China," boasting a 1500-year history of agarwood collection and processing. With an annual output value close to 4 billion yuan ($551.76 million), its products are exported to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
