The 12th CPC Maoming Municipal Congress was held on Dec 28 and 484 of the total 490 Party representatives attended in person.

Yuan Gujie, the Party secretary of Maoming had a report about the city in four parts: the work of the past five years, the firm establishment of new development concepts, the main tasks for the next five years, and the strengthening of the Party's overall leadership and Party building.

In the past five years, Maoming has adhered to the leadership of the CPC, reform and innovation, prosperity from the sea, high-quality development, and a people-centered approach.

In the next five years, Maoming will optimize its economic structure, transform and upgrade traditional industries, promote the integration of urban and rural areas, promote the rural areas through boosting the development of urban areas first, promote agriculture through boosting the development of industries first, improve environmental protection infrastructure, improve the quality of the ecological environment, continue to develop a seaward economy, and build a 100-billion-yuan ($16-billion) industrial cluster.
