The batch of wooden storage boxes exported to North America through the 9710 model for business-to-business (B2B) exports was recently checked and released by Maoming Customs.

It is the first time that bamboo, wood and grass products from Xinyi, a county-level city in Maoming, were exported through the cross-border e-commerce channels.

The wooden storage boxes were produced by Xinyi Yuefeng Craft and are valued at 410,000 yuan ($63,572.96).

"The B2B export mode of cross-border e-commerce is very convenient. It reduces the attached documents and offers preferential inspection, and the costs for enterprises are also reduced," said the person in charge of the company.

Xinyi is located in the mountainous region in the western part of Guangdong province and is rich in resources like bamboo, wood, grass, and vines. It is the largest bamboo weaving production base in China, and is dubbed the hometown of bamboo weaving.

In recent years, the trading mode of bamboo, wood and grass products in Xinyi is still based on the traditional contract and order mode, which restricts the development of export trade.

Maoming Customs has been carrying out publicity of new cross-border e-commerce export modes as well as supporting bamboo weaving enterprises to expand overseas sales markets through the new export modes.

Nine preferential policies such as simplifying the registration procedures for enterprises and quick customs clearance were also launched by customs to promote the development of the new export modes as well as advance foreign trade.
