The city of Maoming is carrying out a series of publicity activities to mark the 31st National Energy Conservation Publicity Week, which runs from Aug 23-29 this year.
On the basis of strict epidemic prevention and control, the city has chosen to hold the event both online and offline on platforms such as television, newspapers, websites, WeChat public accounts and Weibo to promote an energy conservation culture and popularize advanced applicable technologies and products for energy saving and carbon reduction. Leaflets and manuals related to energy conservation are also being distributed around the city.
To celebrate China's fifth National Low-carbon Day on Aug 25, energy shortage activities were carried out in the city's public institutions.
Employees were encouraged to take public transport, bike, or walk to work to achieve green and low-carbon traveling. Elevators in office buildings with five floors or less were stopped, while those in high-rise buildings would alternate operations.
The series of activities in Maoming focus on advocating green and low-carbon ways of working and living, promoting green transformation in all areas of economic and social development, and helping the city achieve the targets of carbon neutrality and peak carbon dioxide emissions.
