Gaozhou, a county-level city in Maoming, ranked in the top three for its rural revitalization achievements in 2020 among all the counties, county-level cities, and districts in western Guangdong province.

The assessment was made by a leading group from the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee for implementing the rural revitalization strategy, and the assessment results were released on Aug 20.

Gaozhou is the only county-level city that was ranked in Maoming.

The county has been deepening rural reform in recent years to enable rural development. This year, the regional public brand value of Gaozhou lychee reached 12.22 billion yuan ($1.88 billion), being the first in the province to break 10 billion yuan.

Construction of the Gaozhou National Lychee Modern Agricultural Industrial Park, the national pastoral complex, and the provincial lychee and longan modern agricultural industrial parks have been basically completed, and the county is in the application process for building a provincial banana modern agricultural industrial park.

In addition, a 39-kilometer rural revitalization demonstration belt is being constructed in the eastern part of the county, displaying the county's characteristic culture, rural scenery, lychee and longan culture and the integrated development of agriculture, tourism and culture.
