The commencement ceremony of three hospital projects in Maoming was carried out in the city on Sept 26.
The hospital projects are part of the city's 48 projects, which are planned to have a total investment of 16 billion yuan ($2.34 billion), to tackle areas of weakness in the health care sector. They are also one of the efforts made by the city to enhance its medical service capacity under the normalized COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control conditions.
The three projects are the emergency building of the Maoming People's Hospital, the relocation of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Maoming, and the new campus of the Third People's Hospital of Maoming.
The emergency building project is expected to strengthen the standardized construction of infectious disease areas in municipal-level general hospitals and the construction of regional emergency medical rescue bases. It will expand an additional 138,000 square meters of medical housing for Maoming People's Hospital and add 1,500 beds.
The relocation of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Maoming will play a positive role in adjusting the layout of medical institutions in the city, optimizing the allocation of medical resources, as well as meeting the health care needs of residents in both urban and rural areas.
