Maoming village listed as national rural tourism model

Boqiao village in Genzi town of Gaozhou, a county-level city in Maoming, was included in the second batch of national key villages for rural tourism, which was recently released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Development and Reform Commission.

A total of 22 villages in Guangdong province were listed in the second batch of national key villages for rural tourism, of which Boqiao is the only one in Maoming.

These villages are eligible to receive support in terms of policies, funds, markets, and talents, giving full play to their exemplary role and better serving the national strategies for rural revitalization and poverty alleviation.

Boqiao village is located in the sloping fields of Fushan Mountains in Maoming. It has an annual average temperature of 24 C, as well as a climate of long summers and abundant rainfall.

The village is the core producing area of lychees in Genzi town. The Genzi Garden, an ancient lychee orchard that was built in the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties, is a must-visit in the village. All the lychee trees in the orchard are more than 500 years old.

The village is also creating a national agricultural tourism demonstration site. The Gaozhou Lychee Themed Park, one of the 10 provincial agricultural parks in Guangdong, was recently established here.
