The fourth South China Sea Fishing Festival kicked off at Bohe Port in Maoming on Aug 16, when the South China Sea fishing moratorium ended.

This year's festival, which is focusing on the city's unique maritime and 'Madam Xian' cultures, will be composed of both offline activities and online live-streaming.

A series of activities, such as a seafood cooking contest, a seafood feast, and trips around the island, will be carried out for visitors to enjoy.

Online live-streaming and vlogs will be used to share the beautiful natural scenery and the great human landscape of Bohe - as well as seafood and the reality of fishermen's lives - with people from beyond the city.

In addition, traditional rituals like paying tribute to the sea were carried out before the fishing boats set sail the same day.

"This year's fishing festival, by integrating fishery, e-commerce, tourism, and live-streaming, further promotes the unique charm of Bohe, a fishing port with a history of more than 1,000 years," said Zhao Guanghui, member of the Standing Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) Maoming Municipal Committee.

"It will also boost the incubation and promotion of high-quality agricultural and fishery brands and enterprises, advancing the economic, social and cultural development of Bohe," added Zhao.

Bohe Port has been included in the top 10 fishing ports in China for 10 consecutive years.
