Cinemas in Maoming reopened for business on July 20 after being closed for more than half a year due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Cinemas are required to adopt online ticketing, and the seat occupancy rate shall not exceed 30 percent. The amount of films scheduled each day shall be reduced to half of that in normal period. The viewing time of each film shall not surpass two hours and visitors are prohibited from eating or drinking.

In addition, all cinemas must conduct disinfection before and after the screening of films, including check-in tables, ticket vending machines, and seats. They must also complete daily physical health registrations for their employees.

"We especially invited relevant bureaus to help the cinema in the epidemic prevention and control work," said Chen Guang, the person in charge of Maoming Cultural Square Cinema. "The cinema conducted comprehensive disinfection and our staff members were also trained in corresponding epidemic prevention measures."
