Xinyi, a county-level city in Maoming, recently signed contracts with Guangdong Changrui Zhilian Big Data Technology Research Co Ltd and Huizhou Zhouwei Communication Technology Co Ltd to boost the development of the city's digital economy industry.

The two projects are the disaster recovery base in Xinyi and the 5G optical communication project, covering a total proposed investment of 4.6 billion yuan ($655.66 million).

The Xinyi disaster recovery base is a subproject for the disaster recovery data port in west Guangdong, with plans to build an incubator base for the digital economy industry, talent apartments, and a commercial district.

Luo Hanjie, Party secretary of Xinyi, said that construction of the disaster recovery base in Xinyi can not only provide a large data backup base for society, as well as new forms of employment, but also promote the development of the digital economy in Xinyi.

The 5G optical communication production project can offer more jobs, as well as boost the upgrading and development of Xinyi's industrial economy, added Luo.
