According to data from Maoming Customs, the value of exported lychees in Maoming has reached 11.93 million yuan ($1.7 million) by July 10, up by more than 80 percent from the same period of the previous year.
Maoming is the world's largest lychee production base and has a total lychee cultivation area of 1.35 million mu (90,000 hectares), accounting for one fifth of China's total. The annual lychee output in Maoming is nearly 500,000 metric tons, with an output value of more than 5 billion yuan.
To assist in the export of lychees, Maoming Customs has set up green channels for related enterprises, provided around-the-clock services and information on technical standards and trade risks for imported fruit of related export destinations, as well as helped enterprises obtain export qualifications.
Maoming lychees were exported to countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Panama, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
