The final five members of Maoming's first batch of medical workers dispatched to Hubei province to contribute to its fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic have returned to Maoming on March 31 after 64 days of working at Wuhan's Jinyintan Hospital.
All five members were nurses from the neurology department of Gaozhou People's Hospital that departed to Wuhan on Jan 28.
Jinyintan Hospital, which is the largest of its kind specializing in infectious diseases in Wuhan, has received many patients with critical cases of the novel coronavirus, of which a great majority of them were seniors.
During their stay at Jinyintan Hospital, Maoming's medical workers had to handle various situations including atomization treatments, assisted oxygen inhalation, oral care, injections, throat swab sampling, food delivery, and ward cleaning. Their day shift lasted for more than six hours, while their night shift was over seven and a half hours. However, all five members won high praise from their Wuhan peers and patients for their hard work.
"I always held the belief that no matter what happens, I have to devote all my efforts to take care of the patients until they recover," said Zhang Ning, one of the five nurses.
The members noted that they will return to Wuhan next year with the hopes of seeing a prospering city.
