Khon Kaen hopes to twin with Quanzhou

Khon Kaen, city of Thailand, recently sent a delegation to visit Quanzhou from Dec 7 to 10 to strengthen ties between the two cities. During their visit, the delegation explored famous landmarks such as Luoyang Bridge, Quanzhou Maritime Museum, Kaiyuan Temple, and more to appreciate Quanzhou's rich history and unique charm.
At Quanzhou Maritime Museum, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the city's history through the exhibition of historical relics and religious stone carvings. These artifacts showcased the grandeur of Quanzhou, which has spanned thousands of years.
The delegation also indulged in the local culinary delights, such as Quanzhou beignets and deep-fried dough sticks. Additionally, they paid a visit to Kaiyuan Temple and the East and West Pagodas, further immersing themselves in the cultural experience.
Furthermore, the delegation visited the EC Industrial Park in Longmen, Anxi, to gain insights into the region's industrial development. They were particularly impressed by how science and technology have empowered the local agriculture sector. The delegation even had the chance to witness the tea-making process and learn about Anxi's tea culture, leaving them astounded by the integration of science and technology with agriculture in the tea industry.
Khon Kaen city and Quanzhou launched friendly exchanges in 2018, and the friendship between the two sides continued to develop. "We hope to be twined with Quanzhou," said Chen Weijian, mayor of Khon Kaen, expressed his expectation for more in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two cities.
