The exhibition Zayton Quanzhou's Amicable Maritime Ties with Sri Lanka was recently held.
One of the supporting activities of the fifth Maritime Silk Road International Arts Festival, the exhibition featured nearly 200 photos across four sections that showcased the historical origins of Quanzhou and Sri Lanka, the exchanges between important leaders of China and Sri Lanka, and the sister city ties between Licheng district and Sri Jayawardenapura-Kotte, Sri Lanka.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was a 175-centimeter-tall statue that is based on King Parakramabahu VI of Kotte of Ceylon. The statue was donated by Cheng Jinshan, president of the Fujian General Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka.
A key part of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Quanzhou organized this photo exhibition to share the story of the Maritime Silk Road and showcase the long history of friendly exchanges between Quanzhou and Sri Lanka.
