Over the last few years, great changes have taken place in Yunfeng village in Yongchun county, Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, through the development of special local tourism industry and the construction of infrastructure there.

Before 2017, Yunfeng was designated a provincial poor village. Its collective income was less than 50,000 yuan ($7,473.95) per year and the hardened roads only covered about 20 kilometers of surface and they were all small roads with a width of 3 meters.

Then in 2018 the village was lifted out of poverty and in the following year, its collective annual income reached more than 150,000 yuan.

During the War of Liberation (1946-49), Yunfeng was an important activity point for the guerrillas in central Fujian, especially at sites such as Lin's Ancestral House and Tianzhu Rock in the village.

Nowadays, relying on red tourism and its local natural resources, the village has developed a camping base, which integrates the historical buildings, red tourism ruins and beautiful landscape.

The camping base is becoming a popular scenic spot that integrates sightseeing, leisure, sports, fitness and camping.

With the help of the scenic spot, the sales of special agricultural products in the village and surrounding farms have also grown. During the National Day last year, local agricultural products worth more than 1 million yuan were sold in the scenic spot.

Last year, a 2.5-kilometer-long and 6.5-meter-wide concrete road was built in Yunfeng, which villages said not only makes things easier for the tourists, but has also improved the logistics for the deliveries of agricultural products.

The hardened roads in Yunfeng were also extended to a total length of 52 km in 2019 and spacious and clean roadways were paved to the doors of every villager.

Currently, projects related to the supply of tap water, sewage, garbage collection and treatment, the renovation of rural toilets, street lighting and elderly care facilities are also under construction in the village.
