The last batch of fishing boats in Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province, resumed operations on Aug 16, marking the end of the city's summer fishing moratorium.

For more than three months, municipal and county fisheries departments and coastal towns and villages have implemented grid management and carried out regular inventories of fishing vessels at the city's ports. Authorities also strengthened inspections and control measures at outlying bay ports, fishing villages and islands.

Using the fishery marine emergency command system, Beidou position indicator and video monitoring at ports, the locations of fishing boats were monitored 24 hours per day.

While the monitoring and enforcement mechanisms were stringent, it's worth noting that Quanzhou's summer fishing suspension was generally adhered to without issue.
