The Baxian section of the first phase of Haiwan Avenue in Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province, opened to traffic on July 7, becoming another landmark project in the construction of municipal roads in the city.

Starting from the east bridgehead of Houzhu Bridge, Haiwan Avenue has a total length of 21.4 kilometers. The project is being constructed in two phases, with a total investment of six billion yuan ($855.59 million).

The area is a characteristic tourist landscape avenue in the Quanzhou Taiwan Investment Zone.

The total investment in the first phase of the project was 1.83 billion yuan, including the two sub-projects of the Baxian section and the Shuangshan section, with a total combined length of 6.63 km.

The Baxian section is composed of an elevated fast path, a separate subgrade and two U-turn curved ramp bridges, with a total length of 3.1 km.

Along the line is the Baxian Guohai large-scale tourism project. There are also plans for Lehuo Town, Baishawan Park, and recreational vehicle camping grounds in the surrounding area.

It is believed that it will promote the development of the surrounding economy, play a prominent role in creating a livable and industry-friendly city, and improve the quality of life of residents.

In addition, the project also introduced the concept of a sponge city design to create an intelligent road, which will prevent road water accumulation, ensure pedestrian safety, and improve transportation capacity.
