Yongning town, located in Shishi, a county-level city in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, was recently given major recognition that is expected to boost its tourism significantly.

It was selected as one of the first batch of coastal leisure climate resorts to be recognized in the province, according to an announcement made by the Fujian Meteorological Association and the Fujian Tourist Association.

A coastal leisure climate resort is selected for its high-quality climate with unique regional characteristics.

Officials said it's the gold standard in terms of recognition of the quality of climate and environmental resources in a destination.

They said the implementation of the program to recognize excellence in coastal resorts aims to allow people to further explore Fujian's high-quality and unique climate tourism environmental resources.

It will also promote green, comfortable and healthy living concepts, as well as enhance the development of an environmentally conscious society and rural revitalization.

A review team went to Yongning to learn about the town's climate and environment, its tourism facilities, safety and emergency security measures.

They also learned about its folk customs which are showcased at tourist attractions such as the Gold Coast, Hongta Bay and Guanyin Mountain.

The expert team agreed that Yongning has a wonderful climate, environment and rich tourism resources, which met all the conditions for being named a coastal leisure climate resort.
