Intelligent upgrading boosts Quanzhou's manufacturing industry
Benefiting from the developed foundation of its real economy, Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province, has further focused on intelligent manufacturing to promote project construction, to enhance the digital transformation and upgrading of its manufacturing industry, and to achieve high-quality development.
On the basis of promoting numerical control (NC) and automation demonstration products and demonstration production lines, the city has innovated its system integration capabilities, forming a complete set of digital workshops and intelligent factory solutions.

"Since this year, the COVID-19 epidemic has broken the normal industrial operation model to a certain extent, but it has made enterprises deeply aware of the need for the upgrading of the manufacturing industry," said a staff member at Quanzhou municipal bureau of industry and information technology.
Through intelligent transformation and strengthening the application of NC technology, traditional industrial enterprises can reduce labor by at least 30 percent and shorten the product development cycle by more than 40 percent.

Enterprises can also effectively shorten procurement costs by accelerating the layout of intelligent manufacturing networks and deploying logistics and transportation resources.
According to related statistics, there are currently more than 2,300 industrial enterprises above a designated size - those with an annual sales revenue surpassing 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) - in Quanzhou which are participating in the "NC New Generation" intelligent transformation and upgrading program, accounting for nearly half of the city's total.
