Quanzhou releases 2019 bulletin on environmental status

In 2019, the environmental quality of Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province, was generally good, and the quality of its air, water, and sound continued to maintain a good level, according to the 2019 Quanzhou Ecological Environment Status Bulletin.

The bulletin was released by the Quanzhou municipal bureau of ecology and environment on June 5, which was also World Environment Day.

Throughout the year, the air quality status of the city was good in general, with 96.4 percent of days reaching quality standards.

The average pH value of precipitation in the city ranged from 5.44 to 6.45, and the frequency of acid rain ranged from 0 to 11.7 percent.

In terms of the water environment, since 2004, the water quality of Jinjiang, a county-level city in Quanzhou, has remained excellent for 16 consecutive years.

The 13 county-level and above centralized drinking water sources had a water quality compliance rate of 100 percent.

Also, Quanzhou's forest coverage rate was stable at 58.7 percent through the year, which is the same as the previous year, and the forest stock was 43.39 million cubic meters, an increase of 3.21 million cu m from the previous year.

In addition, the city's industrial hazardous waste disposal utilization rate was 97.4 percent. The medical waste disposal rate hit 100 percent, and the urban household garbage non-hazardous treatment rate also reached 100 percent.
