In order to meet the daily needs of the public, Quanzhou, a city in East China’s Fujian province, has further coordinated its medical resources to prevent the import of overseas novel coronavirus epidemic cases since March.  

Officials said that the city’s medical institutions have resumed normal medical services at all levels.

In March, the number of outpatient visits to its 27 public hospitals at or above the county level exceeded 780,000, an increase of 56 percent compared with February this year and the appointment rate was about 78 percent.

"At present, except for some special operations of the stomatology department, all outpatient departments have resumed services,” said Zhang Yi, director of the outpatient department of the Quanzhou First Hospital.

“The daily outpatient volume of the two hospital areas is exceeding 4,500 and it has returned to about three-fifths of the volume in the same period last year,” Zhang added.

Officials said county-level, town health centers and community health service stations are also gradually returning to normal medical services.

In addition, since the epidemic outbreak, the city has strengthened its guidance for fever clinics, hospital controls and training for basic medical institutions, effectively improving their medical services and epidemic prevention and control capabilities.
