Quanzhou backs overseas Chinese fight against epidemic

As the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic abroad became ever more severe, Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province, quickly mobilized all parties to donate epidemic prevention materials to be sent to overseas Quanzhou people, according to local officials.

To date, Chinese associations of all levels in Quanzhou have donated 2.87 million masks and 7,100 sets of protective clothing for overseas Quanzhou people.

Four overseas Chinese companies in Jinjiang, a county-level city in Quanzhou, donated 100,000 masks and 7,000 sets of sterile projective medical clothing to the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry and the Philippine Jinjiang General Association Inc.

Shishi, another county-level city in Quanzhou, sent 620,000 masks to the Philippine Shishi General Association Inc, the Thailand Shishi General Association Inc, Shishi (Hong Kong) General Association and to Naga, a sister city in the Philippines.

While strictly preventing imported cases of the epidemic, the city also publicized epidemic prevention policies to the overseas Chinese through WeChat and on the telephone.

At Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport, it also provided care and services for overseas returnees, to improve their understanding and cooperation under centralized medical observation.

Plans are for the Quanzhou government to continue to collect epidemic prevention materials to help overseas Quanzhou people fight the epidemic.
