The 4th Maritime Silk Road Arts Festival was held in the coastal city of Quanzhou in eastern Fujian province on Nov 22-27, according to the organizers.

The six-day event featured various cultural performances, forums on artistic development and exhibitions of international handicrafts related to the ancient Maritime Silk Road.

Organizers said that this year it attracted about 1,400 artists, scholars and over 130 cultural groups from more than 50 countries and regions.

Quanzhou city’s time-honored cultural heritages, such as puppetry shows and Nanyin music -- one of China’s oldest forms of musical art and also a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage recognized in 2019, were highlighted during the event.
