Jiaxing issues first ship entry health quarantine certificates
After completing health inspections by Jiaxing Customs, a Panama-flagged cargo ship with 4,748 metric tons of paraxylene docked at Jiaxing Port in East China's Zhejiang province on Jan 14, applying for the first-ever health quarantine certificates through the online China International Trade Single Window platform, marking the digital transition of Jiaxing Port's ship health quarantine business.
Ship health quarantine certificates are legal documents issued by customs after inspecting ships' entries and exits. After the new issuance mode was implemented, customs can issue electronic certificates for inbound and outbound ships based on health quarantine results.
An employee from Jiaxing United International Shipping Agency, Shen Bin, said they handle over 300 ship entry and exit procedures each year at Jiaxing Port. Previously, obtaining quarantine certificates meant multiple trips to customs, but now they can complete the process with just a few clicks online, saving time and money.
Each electronic certificate includes a unique QR code, enabling global health authorities to verify information instantly and ensuring seamless global navigation.
Jiaxing Customs expects the digital certificates to reduce paper issuance by over 2,000 certificates annually, improving the port's efficiency.
