chinadaily.com.cn| Updated : Jan 2, 2025

The grain cultivation area in Jiaxing, located in East China's Zhejiang province, expanded to 1553.33 square kilometers in 2024, yielding a bumper crop of 1 million metric tons.

That performance once again crowned Jiaxing as the reigning grain champion in Zhejiang province for the 19th consecutive year, earning it the prestigious nickname of the "North Zhejiang's Granary".

The city has implemented a range of agricultural welfare policies aimed at safeguarding farmers' interests and boosting their zeal for production.

Of particular note was the subsidy program introduced last year for the replacement and upgrading of agricultural machinery. This assists farmers in improving their equipment – thereby propelling the city's agricultural modernization endeavors forwards.
