Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute is a full-time higher vocational and technical college, which was approved to be established by the Zhejiang Provincial Government in 2002.
The college has roughly 8,000 students, including more than 100 overseas students, and over 350 teaching and administrative staff members, 72 percent of whom are holders of master's degrees or above.
The college is capable of cultivating professionals in architecture, ship engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, information technology, business administration, mobile commerce, and artistic design.
It also houses eight training bases for shipping and architectural engineering, multimedia technology and intelligent manufacturing, 19 training centers and 134 training rooms.
The college has signed cooperation agreements with more than 200 companies to offer opportunities for internships and jobs to its graduates. Over 97 percent of graduates from the school have succeeded in finding jobs.
In recent years, the college has established cooperation relations with more than 30 schools from over 15 countries and regions, including Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The college is also a pilot school of the Life Skills Development program launched by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Education.
Such a program is aimed to cultivate 10 core life skills: creative thinking, self-cognition, anti-pressure ability, emotion management, problem solving, transpositional consideration, and ability to communicate.
