Huzhou streamlines hotel check-ins for overseas travelers
The 2025 East Asian Cultural Capital Huzhou China Activity Year recently started in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, with over 30 guests from Japan and South Korea experiencing fast-tracked and streamlined hotel check-ins through the "e-Jingtong" identity verification system.
This signals the official adoption of the system in Huzhou, following its trial in a number of local hotels.
The international visitors were impressed by the swift check-in process. Mayor Kim Bo-ra of Anseong city in South Korea lauded the efficiency of Huzhou's accommodations, highlighting her own check-in completion in under a minute with minimal guidance.
Previously, manual entry of foreign guest details like names and visa information led to time-consuming and error-prone processes, taking up to seven minutes per check-in. With the new system, efficiency has significantly increased.
The Huzhou Public Security Bureau confirmed that 120 hotels and homestays in the city have now integrated the new system.
It can accurately read and verify passports of over 150 countries, as well as other documents like entry-exit documents for travel to and from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, with an accuracy rate of 99.5 percent.
