In the Zhejiang Pengsheng Stationery Co's factory – located in Qujiang district, Quzhou, Zhejiang province – 32 production lines are operating at full capacity, churning out vibrantly colored plastic pencils at lightning speeds.

According to Zhang Meifang, assistant general manager, the company produces 2 million plastic faux-wood pencils daily, amounting to over 800 million annually.

"We've upgraded our production equipment, allowing the pencil core, body and exterior to be formed in one seamless process using our automated machinery. This not only reduces costs, but also significantly boosts efficiency," Zhang said. The technology also supports customization in color for different components, catering to diverse client needs.

As Zhejiang's largest plastic pencil manufacturer, Pengsheng Stationery has fostered collaboration with over 10 high-end brands worldwide, exporting products to more than 70 countries. Last year, the company generated revenue of 116 million yuan ($16.02 million).

"Over 80 percent of our products are present in European, African and Asian markets, where we've captured a 20 percent market share," Zhang said.

The company's standout product, the plastic faux-wood erasable colored pencil, is particularly popular. Unlike many pencils that resist erasure, Pengsheng's pencils feature an improved core formula that allows complete erasure, alongside benefits such as eco-friendly materials, smooth writing, vibrant colors, resistance to breaks, and easy sharpening.
