Zhejiang province's green electricity trade reached 10.96 billion kilowatt-hours in 2024, a 40.7 percent increase over 2023, according to data from the Zhejiang Power Exchange Center on Jan 2.
Since the province's first green electricity trade in November 2020, the market has expanded rapidly. In the first 11 months of 2024, Zhejiang added 11.63 million kilowatts of solar capacity.
Last year, Zhejiang held 31 green power trading sessions with 20,000 participants. Industries such as automotive, furniture, textiles, and chemicals accounted for much of the demand, reflecting the broader adoption of clean energy.
In November 2024, Zhejiang introduced the "Green Electricity Trading Rules 2.0". The revisions clarify guidelines for green power and certificate transactions, supporting the province's shift to low-carbon energy.
