Yiwu achieves record high in foreign trade in Jan-Nov
In the first 11 months of this year, Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has seen its foreign trade hit 613.99 billion yuan ($84.13 billion), a substantial 17.6 percent increase year-on-year, surpassing last year's total of 566.05 billion yuan.
Its exports amounted to 542.06 billion yuan, growing by 17.4 percent, while imports totaled 71.93 billion yuan, up by 19.0 percent.
As the end of the year approaches, businesses in Yiwu continue to experience a steady flow of foreign trade orders. Yiwu Customs reported over 1,200 container trucks departing daily from the Yiwu Port for the Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
Yiwu has introduced productive measures like online foreign-related services to help international buyers conduct business in the city. Its trade with Africa, Latin America, the United States, and ASEAN saw significant growth from January to November, with increases of 16.1 percent, 24.6 percent, 42.2 percent, and 24.5 percent, respectively.
Labor-intensive products and electromechanical goods have dominated Yiwu's exports this year, comprising nearly 80 percent of the total. Additionally, exports of auto parts and sporting goods have shown robust growth rates of 33.3 percent and 30.6 percent, respectively.
On the import front, consumer goods remain an important category, accounting for 59.3 percent of total imports. Imports of beauty and personal care products reached 7.82 billion yuan, a 22.9 percent rise.
