The Lanting Culture Salon was recently held in Mauritius. Originating from the historic Lanting Gathering, where Wang Xizhi famously penned the Preface to the Poems Collected from the Orchid Pavilion, this cultural tradition has now captivated an international audience.

Organized by the China Cultural Center in Mauritius with support from various Chinese and Mauritian cultural institutions, the event featured dialogues on the art of calligraphy, masterclasses, and an exhibition showcasing the evolution of Chinese calligraphy and its cultural significance.

Fei Yinbin, representing the Tongxiang Cultural Center, led discussions that highlighted the development and unique aspects of Chinese calligraphy. He also engaged in meaningful exchanges with calligraphers from different cultural backgrounds, including Telugu, Arab, and Urdu traditions.

The masterclass attracted a diverse group of participants, reflecting the universal appeal of calligraphy as an art form. The exhibition provided a comparative perspective, allowing visitors to appreciate the artistic achievements of various civilizations.
