The 8th Tongxiang Qingming Silkworm Flower Folk Customs Fair and the 7th Silkworm Flower Festival commenced in Baquan village, Heshan town, on March 30.

The festivities included traditional rituals such as beating silkworm flower drums, offering sacrifices, reciting sacrificial texts and ceremonial processions.

This year's Silkworm Flower Festival not only retained traditional events but also introduced new activities such as water parade and kite flying.

Visitors enjoyed traditional foods and creative products while witnessing various performances and cultural activities.

Among the attendees was Hassan, a Pakistani doctoral student at Zhejiang University, who marveled at the ancient craft of silk unraveling, expressing admiration for the labor and wisdom of the people involved.

Heshan town, renowned as the "hometown of silkworms and mulberries", has preserved its sericulture heritage for centuries. Initiatives like the Chinese Silkworm Township Folk Experience Museum and the annual Silkworm Flower Festival have helped to sustain this rich cultural legacy.
