"Last year, our hospital received over 8.4 million outpatient visits, discharged over 400,000 patients, performed 160,000 surgeries, conducted tens of thousands of ultrasound examinations daily, and provided MRI scans for 1,000 people," according to Liang Tingbo, deputy to the National People's Congress and secretary of the CPC Committee at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
During this year’s two sessions, he suggested strengthening the interconnection and exchange of medical insurance and public medical data.
Liang emphasized that the sharing and utilization of data resources and analysis are of great significance to the high-quality development of public hospitals and strengthening of health management for key populations.
Liang also proposed the unified construction of a national ICD (International Classification of Diseases) code repository.
Under the premise of protecting personal privacy and ensuring data security, medical insurance and health departments should establish a sharing mechanism, said Liang.
Relevant data should be promptly fed back to health departments and medical institutions to promote the high-quality development of public hospitals, he added.
