China's key global initiatives on development, security and civilization, is gaining increasing recognition and support from other countries as they provide the Chinese solution to a changing and turbulent international environment, said Yang Mingjie, head of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations.

In an exclusive interview with China Daily, Yang said the three initiatives, guided by the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and supported by the Belt and Road Initiative, are setting the tone for global governance.

"The Belt and Road cooperation over the past decade has proved that the spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, and mutual learning and mutual benefit is the most important source of strength behind any development achievement," he said.

According to Yang, it is based on the logic that win-win cooperation is the sure way to success and benefit all that China has launched the three major initiatives.

Noting that China's economic development has served as a major engine behind world economic recovery with a 5.2 percent GDP growth last year, Yang said the world's second largest economy will continue to help stabilize, boost and also guide the development of world economy this year.

"The target of around 5 percent growth for this year is a science-based estimate," he said, noting that the goal is set after fully considering the country's potential economic growth, the preferential policies to be rolled out by the government, as well as the negative impact on China's foreign trade caused by external challenges such as certain countries' overstretching of national security.

Yang noted that China has also contributed to addressing hot-spot issues with the Global Security Initiative. "For example, we have helped to ease tensions in the Middle East before the abrupt escalation of the Palestine-Israel conflict," he said, referring to the China-brokered historic agreement reached between Saudi Arabia and Iran to resume diplomatic ties last year.

"In addition, China's several rounds of shuttle diplomacy on seeking a political settlement for the Ukraine crisis also helped to stabilize the current situation," he said.

As the United Nations will hold the Summit of the Future in September to reinvigorate multilateralism, Yang said China is expected to play a more important role in contributing Chinese wisdom on global governance to the UN and other multilateral organizations.
