A report of the discovery of a large fungus found in Jiangshan, Quzhou, Zhejiang province was recently published in the international academic journal Archives of Microbiology.

The fungus is a new species of the genus Carbon Cushion Fungus in the family of navel mushrooms, and has been given the scientific name of "Anthracophyllum sinense".

The publication of findings regarding this fungus represents yet another significant achievement following the record-setting discovery of four other new large fungi in China.

The climate in Jiangshan is characterized by abundant rainfall and a moist environment, providing favorable conditions for the growth and development of large fungi, as well as rich flora and fauna resources.

Jiangshan ecological and environment authorities initiated a survey on the biodiversity of large fungi in July 2021 and have collected a total of 375 specimens of large fungi to date.

Among these, 294 species of known large fungi have been identified. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for the future enhancement of biodiversity protection and the scientific development and utilization of biological resources.
