In Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, the enduring influence of renowned writer Lu Xun (1881-1936) continues to shape the cultural landscape of his hometown, inspiring generations of readers and tourists alike.

Lu Xun's literary contributions have left an indelible mark on Chinese literature. His profound insights and critiques of traditional society have established him as a towering figure in the modern Chinese literary canon.

On Feb 3, residents gathered in Anqiaotou village, Yuecheng district to celebrate the Spring Festival. This year marked the 5th annual "Lu Xun's Grandmother's Home" Blessing Cultural Festival, held in the very village where Lu Xun's grandmother once resided.

"Blessings" are an integral part of Shaoxing's Spring Festival traditions. Lu Xun vividly portrayed these customs in his novel Blessings, capturing the essence of old Shaoxing during the Chinese New Year.

From tossing rice cakes to toasting with blessing rice wine and witnessing countryside weddings, the festival faithfully recreated the festive atmosphere depicted by Lu Xun.

The highlight of the event was the "Blessing Ceremony," where representatives from 17 nearby villages took turns offering "blessing gifts" under the guidance of the emcee. Each gift carried auspicious wishes for favorable weather, bountiful harvests, and good health in the coming year.

The festival will continue until the 15th day of the first lunar month, showcasing both Lu Xun's cultural heritage and traditional New Year customs.
