A set of porcelain cups featuring characters from the popular mobile game Arena of Valor are now available at the Hangzhou Asian Games Tmall store.

The Hangzhou Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, from Sept 23 to Oct 8. The sporting extravaganza will feature 40 sports and 61 disciplines. Arena of Valor is one of the competitive e-sports events.

The cups are made using the traditional celadon technique from Longquan, a county-level city administered by Zhejiang's Lishui city. The technique dates back more than 1,700 years and was a symbol of China on the Maritime Silk Road in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).

According to the manufacturer of the cup, engraving the game characters on the cup was not an easy process, and only three out of ten cups pass the quality test after being fired for a day.

Ye Fang, the designer of the cups, said that she wanted to showcase the beauty of Longquan celadon to the world through this unique mix of intangible cultural heritage and e-sports.

By doing so, she hopes to inspire more young people to protect and inherit intangible cultural heritage.
