The first phase of the Daluzhang operation area of the Qujiang Port Area in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, has had a total cargo throughput of 450,000 metric tons so far this year, a year-on-year growth of 45.1 percent and a record high for this time of year, local media reported on March 22.

The coal handling volume saw a whopping increase of 400 percent year-on-year, while the pulp handling volume increased by 28 percent year-on-year.

Due to its low costs, large transportation volume, and long transportation distances, Qujiang Port Area's Dalizhang operation area has attracted many enterprises to water transportation.

The owner of Zhejiang Longyao Petrochemical Co Ltd surnamed Zhang said that after shipping 50,000 tons of goods, the company found that the port's services and overall operation were very competent.

Subsequently, the company signed a freight agreement with Qujiang Port Area for 300,000 tons of coal.
