Nabil, an owner of a hanfu shop in Xitang ancient town, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has been busy with his business with the 10th Xitang Hanfu Culture Week kicking off on Dec 21, 2022.

A native of Yemen, Nabil came to China for school in 1986 at the age of 20 and met his wife Yin Hongxia while pursuing his master's degree in Shanghai.

Despite his history with China, Nabil's relationship with hanfu began at the 4th Xitang Hanfu Culture Week in 2016.

During the event, he and his wife wore hanfu and walked around the ancient town. Nabil said that he felt wonderful looking at people wearing hanfu around him.

"Hanfu are exquisite. My wife and I want to wear them every day, so we decided to open a hanfu shop in Xitang," he said.

Sometimes, foreigners visiting Xitang would stop by Nabil's hanfu shop out of curiosity. At these times, Nabil would introduce them to the clothing's cultural legacy in English and Arabic, as well as help them try on hanfu.

"I hope our hanfu can play the role of communication and convince more people to wear it. The more traditional it is, the more cosmopolitan it is," Nabil added.

For his contributions in spreading hanfu and Chinese culture, Nabil was awarded with the title of "Envoy of Picturesque Zhejiang" by the Zhejiang Culture and Exchange Administration.
