7 companies honored nationally for smart manufacturing
Two companies – Geely and Joyson Electronics - from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province recently made the 2022 list of national model companies in smart manufacturing released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Geely, a leading Chinese carmaker, was recognized because of its Zeeker factory in Ningbo. Zeeker is the premium electric car arm of Geely.
Located in the Qianwan New Area, the factory, which is 800 mu (53 hectares) larger than the Tesla mega-factory in Shanghai, is among the most advanced auto factories in China.
More than 60,000 units of the Zeeker 001, a pure electric car developed by Geely, has rolled off the production lines since the factory started operations in October 2021.
Joyson Electronics was ranked 92nd on the world's top 100 list of global auto part suppliers released by Automotive News based in the United States.
At the Joyson factory in Ningbo, 90 percent of production equipment are automated.
The company currently has R&D centers and production bases in major automobile production countries around the world. It has also established cooperation relationships with customers such as Tesla, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Ford and GM.
In addition, five other companies from Ningbo were honored by the MIIT for their establishment of outstanding smart manufacturing scenarios.
