​Oil-tea trees provide better life for residents of Taishun

The oil-tea industry in Taishun county, Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province has boosted the county's economy in the recent years, according to local media reports.

Oil-tea products produced by Xuenei village in Taishun county enjoy strong sales all over the country, raising the per capita income of the village from 6,870 yuan ($1,020.17) in 2011 to 22,000 yuan in 2020.

Wenzhou Ruixue Agricultural Development Co Ltd based in the village has helped residents increase their incomes by developing the oil-tea industry.

More than 7,000 mu (466.67 hectares) of land in the village has been transferred to the company, and 220 villagers have become shareholders of the company.

The planting area of Ruixue's oil-tea trees is currently 3,500 mu. In recent years, Ruixue has invested more than 56 million yuan to introduce an advanced oil-tea seed cold pressing production line and produce high-quality goods. The annual output of oil has reached 1,800 metric tons, the annual output value of which exceeds 220 million yuan.

Last year, the oil-tea base experienced a bumper harvest, and the total output of oil seeds purchased amounted to more than 10 million yuan, increasing the villages' collective income by more than 100,000 yuan.

In addition, Ruixue has offered welfare and technical support to encourage residents to join in the planting of oil-tea trees. Meanwhile, Ruixue purchases oil tea fruit from villages in the county for intensive processing to help with sales, with the purchase amount totaling more than 3 million yuan.
