Annual investment on Zhejiang's power grid infrastructures to rise 30% in 2022
Zhejiang authorities recently announced that the planned total investment on the province's power grid infrastructures in 2022 would amount to 40 billion yuan ($6.3 billion), accounting for roughly 10 percent of the national aggregate, up nearly 30 percent from the year before.
According to State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co, ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission will be a priority in the construction of the power grid infrastructure as it is significantly better than traditional long-distance power transmission modes in terms of safety, stability, and capacity.
In 2021, Zhejiang purchased 176.7-billion-kWh electricity, around one third of its total power consumption, from outside the province, a reflection of the province's huge demand for long-distance power transmission.
State Grid plans to invest 13.893 billion yuan on the UHV power transmission from Baihetan Hydropower Station in Southwest China to Zhejiang in 2022.
