Twenty-five cities from across the nation were included in the program launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology to build a batch of innovation-driven cities.
Taizhou has made strides in facilitating innovation-driven development in recent years.
In 2020, 383 enterprises from the city were designated as national high-tech enterprises, and 1,537 companies were honored as provincial science and technology medium and small-sized enterprises, both record highs.
In addition, a number of high-caliber talents including Chen Shiyi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Xu Zuyan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, were introduced to Taizhou.
Last year, the city set up R&D organs by partnering with universities such as Fudan University and Tong Ji University.
The local government has been drawing innovation resources from Yangtze River Delta region by advancing links with the districts of Yangpu, Jinshan and Songjiang in Shanghai.
Looking ahead, Taizhou will further enhance its comprehensive innovation capabilities as part of efforts to bolster common prosperity in the city.
