Cross-border e-commerce booms in Ningbo
Cross-border e-commerce imports in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province totaled 23.31 billion yuan ($3.58 billion) in the first 11 months of last year.
The city handled 110 million declarations for cross-border e-commerce imports over the 11-month period, up 1.8 percent year-on-year, official statistics from Ningbo Customs show.
Among them, about 2.57 million declarations were made for imports worth 440 million yuan from Central and Eastern European countries.
During the 11 months, roughly 6.69 million people across the country purchased imported commodities in Ningbo.
Meanwhile, the city had also seen robust growth in cross-border e-commerce exports thanks to the fast-growing number of overseas warehouses set up by local enterprises.
As of June of last year, Ningbo had built more than 200 overseas warehouses spanning more than two million square meters in 20 countries and regions.
The number of warehouses and their total area accounted for about 11.1 percent and 16.7 percent of the country's total respectively.
From January to November in 2021, the value of commodities stocked in overseas warehouses established by Ningbo hit 3.49 billion yuan, more than 3.2 times the total of the previous year and the highest in China.
Ningbo Jiajing Supply Chain Co Ltd recently inaugurated its 12th overseas warehouse in Los Angeles, the United States.
The company's CEO Sun Zhe said the new 11,200-square-meter warehouse will bring the total area of its warehouses in the US to 121,000 square meters.
