Zhoushan Port handles 547m tons of cargo in Jan-Nov

The cargo throughput of Zhoushan Port amounted to 547 million metric tons in the first 11 months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 3.28 percent, local media reported.

Ninety percent of the port's target of delivering 600 million tons of cargo this year been achieved.

The Laotangshan wharf at Zhoushan port area has taken measures to promote cooperation with grain processing companies to ensure the stable growth of grain throughput. As of November this year, the wharf delivered more than 33 million tons of cargo with the grain throughput increasing 75.67 percent year-on-year.

The facilities and operation procedures at Laotangshan wharf have also been improved. Two vent pipes that reduce flying dust when delivering grain have been installed on the new portal crane, which is expected to be put into use by the end of the year.

Cargo transfer efficiency at Laotangshan wharf has also been improved as the the unloading of international ships and loading of their connecting vessels can now be performed simultaneously.

The wharf at Zhoushan port's comprehensive bonded zone has achieved its annual target of delivering 3 million tons of cargo throughput 25 days ahead of schedule.
