The annual container throughput of the inland port in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has exceeded 200,000 twenty-foot equivalent units for the first time, according to Jiaxing Inland Port Affairs Co Ltd.
As of Dec 14, the port handled more than 202,000 twenty-foot equivalent units this year, a notable feat considering it is located inland. The port's cargo throughput was 3.11 million metric tons, meaning it achieved its annual target 22 days ahead of schedule.
Jiaxing Inland Port Affairs Co Ltd has since the start of this year been visiting local shipping companies to learn about their difficulties. It has also cooperated with Jiaxing Customs to further improve operation procedures.
The exported goods will be regarded as being under the supervision of Jiaxing Customs after completing customs declaration at Jiaxing inland port. The good can then be directly shipped to the Ningbo Zhoushan Port for export, saving local companies from having to perform customs declaration in another city.
