E-sports contest to open in Huzhou

Registration for the third edition of the Huzhou E-sports Competition & Inaugural Yangtze River Delta E-sports Competition recently opened in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

The event is part of the local authorities' broad push to bolster the local e-sports sector and mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

The competition will comprise two parts – 5V5 group games in League of Legends and Honor of Kings.

In each category, the top four winners will win cash prizes valued at 20,000 yuan ($3,076.92), 10,000 yuan, 5,000 yuan and 2,000 yuan respectively.

Participants must be registered before Aug 5. The preliminary round for Honor of Kings will take place on Aug 14, followed by the knockout round and final qualifier on Aug 21 and Aug 28 respectively.

The aforementioned rounds for League of Legends games will be held a day later, with the final held on Sept 5.

The event is the largest e-sports competition both in terms of scale and prize purse in the Yangtze River Delta, a region encompassing the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui as well as Shanghai municipality.

A high-profile animation exhibition is also slated to be held in Huzhou during the e-sports competition.
